Artificial Intelligence has changed the landscape for chatbots and customer support automation. Tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini offer the capability to answer any question that is posed. But often, when it comes to a specific organisation or product, you want your responses to be finely tailored to your own ecosystem.

Conversely, it is important to recognise the difference between an AI-driven chatbot (that is genuinely able to respond to questions) and an automated workflow (that is offering an answer or further question, simply based on the option that was selected). You often see the latter dressed up as chatbots on websites - but ultimately they are not offering any level of Artificial Intelligence, they are simply following a decision tree.

The optimum balance point between Large Language Models and automated decision trees is where Small Language Models come into their own - and this is what we are able to create for your business or organisation.

Our approach

We typically create chatbots and AI tools that are primarily built on your own documentation and terminology, enhanced by our foundational language models. This enables your responses to be tailored to your business, organisation or product.

As with all language models, the accuracy of answers and the breadth of responses will depend on the volume of documentation that is available for our tool to ingest. We will be reliant on you to provide this information, either through online resources or through digital documentation that can be read by our AI ingestion tool. The more you can provide, the better!

In addition to the documentation that you provide, we have our foundational language model that will enable a natural language response to frequently asked questions.

This is what we define as a Small Language Model. Whilst ChatGPT and Gemini can answer pretty much anything, from a recipe for pavlova through to creative story writing, our tools are entirely focused on you and your customers.

Of course, you may wish to harness the breadth of knowledge that is offered by tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini as a supplementary offer, or indeed as the basis on which you build your own chatbot. We can absolutely include an integrated solution with these platforms as part of the build.

Furthermore, you may wish to offer your site visitors a way to connect with a human if the chatbot has not fully answered the question. This is a proven technique and can be seamlessly integrated into our models.
