Website Design and Development

Tailored solutions for businesses and organisations of all sizes

Your website is the frontdoor to your business. Research shows that 76% of consumers look at online presence before physically visiting a business - and first impressions really do count. Indeed, many organisations are moving to be exclusively online - and the platform through which you serve your content and engage with customers is absolutely critical in this environment.

At Affirmable, we recognise that every business and every organisation is different. There is no such thing as a one-size fits all approach to website design. We use the latest technology and an underpinning commitment to design excellence to create a web presence that is uniquely yours.

Our approach

Ultimately we are not just web designers. We are customer-centric, business minded and outcome orientated business leaders, with extensive commercial experience. We know what great user journeys look like and, more importantly, what a great customer experience feels like. This approach underpins every website created by Affirmable - and we seek to add value through every interaction.

Every website created by Affirmable is coded from first principles. We do not use off-the-shelf systems like Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla or Squarespace. Instead, we use best practice coding solutions to create a site that is unique for you. We are experts in industry standards for web design (HTML, CSS, Javascript) and make use of appropriate frameworks (Bootstrap, JQuery) to ensure that your site is optimised for mobile and cross-browser support.

We offer two types of website:

  • A static website is built by our team, with all content written in HTML. Updates to pages need to made in the HTML itself. Whilst changes can still be applied quickly and efficiently, it may be a consideration for fast-changing organisations and dynamic business models.
  • A dynamic website harnesses our bespoke content management system and server-side programming languages (typically PHP or node.js) along with a database (MySQL) or a similar structure for holding dynanmic data. Whilst our team will still create the layout and theme for the site, the actual content (wording, imagery etc.) can be added and updated through a simple web interface - just like sending an email.

We will be delighted to work with you to agree the approach that is the best fit for your business or organisation. Of course, a hybrid approach is always possible as well. It is common to use a dynamic model for news pages, blog articles and calendars - with the rest of the site hard-coded in HTML. This might be the best option for you and, again, we will work with you to agree the optimum solution to achieve your objectives within your available budget.

Optimising your site

Rest assured, your site will be optimised for all users. We have three areas that we focus on:

  • Optimising for search engines: We know that organic search traffic is essential to the succeess of your business. We build every site, from the ground up, to be optimised for Google, Yahoo, Bing and others.
  • Optimising for mobile: Almost half of global web traffic is from a mobile device and this number is growing exponentially. Your website needs to be built to be optimised for mobile users - and you can be fully confident that your Affirmable site will be built to be "mobile first" in its design principles.
  • Optimising for accessibility: Your site needs to be accessible to every user, which means we need to collectively consider disabilities that may prevent access to certain parts of your website if it is not built correctly. Screen readers, alternative image descriptions, adjustable colours and font sizes and keyboard navigation are all integrated into our design.

Pricing

As we create every site individually, it is hard to provide an absolute guarantee of pricing. However, we also recognise that it is helpful to be able to budget effectively. We have therefore provided some indicative pricing below, but please contact us for a bespoke cost breakdown.
