Data-led solution design

Use data intelligently to inform your delivery model and pricing strategy

You no doubt already have data that suggests how long different tasks take - and how these activities are offset by downtime and lost productivity.

Furthermore, you probably have some understanding of the benefits of technology and automation to reduce the human touchpoints in your operating model. But have you truly got the tools you need to accurately estimate and forecast your future state business model? And do you have the insights you require to price business opportunities effectively?

Our approach

We harness time and motion studies (either created by you, or created in partnership with us), alongside an extensive study of the automation opportunities of different technology platforms at each stage of your business process, to create a detailed breakdown of the resource that is required to deliver your service - and the resulting cost.

We further draw on insights that understand differences in the process, perhaps because of variances between locations or product types, to better enhance the formulas used to create the solution tooling. If there are outside influences (perhaps seasonal or market conditions) we can draw these into the calculations, either manually or via API, to provide further assurance that all variables have been considered.

The end result can be customised to meet your requirements. Typically, the outputs are based on the requirements of finance colleagues who are able to draw on the data created to populate pre-existing pricing templates. Alternatively, the output can be created in compelling infographics or similar that can be shared with your sales team as part of a pursuit. Of course, we are also able to price on the basis of a reusable tool that can be used repeatedly within your organisation.

Case Study

The challenge

A large global recruitment company required a more robust data-led approach to pricing for new business pursuits. Historically, pricing had been based on high level assumptions around productivity targets - but this was not backed up by time and motion studies. Furthermore, the addition of new and innovative technology across the end-to-end recruitment process was not being properly considered in terms of the efficiencies it was offering, compared to the additional cost it was introducing. This meant that new wins often needed to be reforecasted and budgeted once the true costs were known.

Our solution

We created a comprehensive data-led model for solution design, which encompassed a full time-and-motion study across every step in the recruitment process. This was adjusted by job category and further adjustments were automatically made based on the location of the job. The assumptions were informed by different workflows for different job families - potentially enabling different technology or process steps to be leveraged for different roles. And further adjustments were made based on a forecast of the potential recruitment funnel (i.e. how many applications would we typically expect for this role, based on company attractiveness.)

The outcome

The output was a reusable tool that enabled the business to build solutions for a range of different recruitment delivery models (permanent, contingent, direct delivery, supply chain led, project-based etc.) The outputs included an infographic for bid/sales and a template pricing model for commercial finance. The tool was used to deliver a step change in accuracy for pricing and additionally gave clients confidence in our future model.

Pricing

Every requirement is different and it is impossible to give detailed insights into pricing without a specification.
